Wonder what would happen if you took some old tongue &groove fir

Planned it down,laminated it together,planned it down to 1 3/4" and shaped it like a guitar????? 

As you can see I did a small contour on the front

and tummy cut on the back 

Just to be different I tried some dye on some test pieces

Everybody seemed to like the amber so.....

I got to it and did the routing,sanding and hit it with some amber

Looks pretty yellow

Nothing but fear and common sense holding me back

I decided to hit it with some clear

If I don't like it I can turn it into a burst

It actually calmed it down some

I decided to carry on with the clear

It's not even super heavy

Here it is compared to an unfinished ash body

Got some interest in this body

Our interested party would like a kind of honey burst so

Went to work and did the base for the burst.

It will take a couple more passes to get it finished and looking right 

Did a little refining tonight

Looks much better now

It's going good,just the way I want.I am getting the color

but still can see the joints in the wood

 After a couple clear coats

After a few more coats of clear

Well she is all finished and ready to go to her new home
