I have started a page for this build.I am not going to post anything on it for a couple weeks. It is kind of a secret so we don't want anything to leak out
Please check back often
Here is a taste
This is what I started with

Well lets just update this a bit
I didn't take much for pics along the way here
This was quite a challenge. The large 2x10 is fir
The thinner boards are cedar. The building they come out of is 94 years old
Here is a peek of what come out of these
More to come
Soon
OK
Now that the event is over and this build finished
I can safely put it on here
This is quite a journey. The wood is from this old barn, cow poop and all
What is the significance of this barn?
Our neighbors, last weekend, celebrated 100 years of living in this community
To mark the occasion they had a big family reunion.
Now,the son of one of the original homesteaders is a close
family friend and somewhat a relative.Growing up I was either
at their house or their youngest son was at our house
To mark the occasion I decided to try to build a guitar from the wood from this barn.
You can get the entire story here, where I posted the build on
TDPRI
In the next few days I will add pics etc here
Here is a picture or two of the final guitar

A few Details
The front and back caps are cedar taken from a wall in the barn
I bookmatched them and picked the best one for the top
There was not a lot to work with
The core is made from a 2x8 fir plank I took from one of the stanchions
It still had cow poop on it

You can see the back did not bookmatch that well

A shot of the great neck plate William did for me
Super fast I will add

A close-up of the back from early in the build

WOW
I can't thank people enough for the kind comments that have been coming in.
This is a build I will never forget
Here are a few more pics as it was being built
You can see I left the nail holes in it

You can see on the back I left the knots unfilled
I wanted it to still have that Barn feel

The presentation went great
The secret did not get out
Here he is reading the back of the guitar after I had played it for a song

The moment was very special and hard to describe
You could tell in his voice as he read the inscription it really touched him

Mrs Tucker

Here is a Youtube video of the presentation
The quality is not that great but...
