I got asked if I could do a refinish on a strat body
The main concern was that it had been finished with a couple coats of tung oil
I was told by many that it would be tough but I thought I would give it a shot
The worry was that the finish would not stick to the oil.My plan was to get rid of
most of the oil,re-seal the body and go from there
Here is the body after I received it and give it a good sanding
with 400 grit paper and wiped it down really good with naphtha
I was really hoping the tung oil would have helped fill the grain more

On goes a coat of sealer to seal up the small pores
Then another light sanding
Then we slop on some grain filler

Then squeegee off the excess leaving filler in the grain
Hang it up and let it dry
After it is dry we sand it back
Hmmmm, still a lot of grain there!

Round two of filler

Looking pretty good now

Except,for this little pin knot

A drop of CA glue will fix him!!

SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTH
Now we clean it up and shoot it with amber tinted lacquer

Let that dry and shoot the black

Now it is just a matter of getting some clear on it
